Hedi Slimane can be considered an iconic figure of today's alternative fashion culture. His fascination with youth, or LA, where he lives and Rock'n'Roll in all of its' glow, is more than prominent in his design and photography. Further more, his photography blog, which he calls his diary, is a tribute to all of the things he finds inspiring and to a lifestyle he finds alluring.
His photography is strictly black and white, perfectly lit and contrasted. It is not necessarily a fashion photography, though it screams perfect styling and garments. It tells a story of dim and dark clubs, story of punk-rock culture and loud distortion, fucked-up hair and make-up. His photography shows energy of a true rock gig, and of wild and careless youth.
He spends a lot of time surrounded with musicians, models and instruments, thus those are the main "characters" in his photographs. Nevertheless, the way Slimane sees and projects reality, is more than enough to consider his blog one of the the most influential on today's alternative fashion and style.
